Plot Synopsis

Based on characters from "The Sandman" comic book series, LUCIFER centers on Lucifer Morningstar, who is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, so he resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals. Lucifer works with Chloe Decker, an LAPD homicide detective who finds herself both repulsed and fascinated by Lucifer. As they work together to solve a murder, Lucifer is struck by Chloe's inherent goodness and begins to wonder if there is hope for the human race. Plus, he becomes intrigued with the idea of punishing criminals, sending the devil himself into a struggle between good and evil. While working with Chloe, Lucifer encounters: Linda, a therapist who he later seeks for professional advice; and Dan, a gruff LAPD homicide detective, who is wary of Lucifer's involvement with his wife and daughter. While on Earth, Lucifer connects with his best friend Maze, a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman, but he's also pursued by Amenadiel, an angel sent to The City of Angels to persuade Lucifer to return to Hell.

Season 2 of LUCIFER premiered on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on FOX. At the end of Season 1, Chloe watched Lucifer die, only to come back to life, causing more confusion over who he really is. Meanwhile, her estranged husband, DAn, who is also an LAPD detective, came clean about his involvement in a corrupt case -- jeopardizing not only his job, but also their relationship. In the new season, Lucifer and his brother, Amenadiel, who have been sparring over Lucifer's resistance to returning to the underworld, will now be brought back together for one common goal -- to find their mother, Charlotte, who escaped Hell. After all, Lucifer doesn't take after his dad, so the parent he does resemble is sure to be quite terrifying. Lucifer's work with the LAPD also is upended when the police force hires Ella Lopez, a smart, tough forensic scientist whose mutual belief in both faith and science proves a point of interest to Lucifer. With mom on the loose, Dr. Linda Martin, who has become not only a therapist, but also a confidante to Lucifer, will surely have a lot of advice to dole out. And, by the time she's done with them, she may need a therapist of her own.

The third season of LUCIFER premiered on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 8pm ET/PT on FOX. Entering its third season, the story of the original fallen angel continues, with the charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar, helping LAPD detective Chloe Decker take down criminals. As Season 2 came to a close, Lucifer took care of a little problem called Mom, aka Charlotte. But now he's facing an even greater challenge -- finding out who kidnapped him, and why his angel wings are back. What's worse is the arrival of new lieutenant Marcus Pierce, who's everything Lucifer is not -- strategic, reserved and well-respected. Unfortunately for Lucifer, he's also handsome, charismatic and smart. And he's caught Chloe's eye. In the season opener, "They're Back, Aren't They?," Lucifer enlists Chloe's help to determine why he woke up in the desert with his wings on his back again, which could be related to an active crime scene; a new lieutenant's stern demeanor makes for some uncomfortable introductions.

Season 4 of LUCIFER premiered on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire 10-episode third season. In the new season, Chloe struggles to come to terms with Lucifer's disturbing revelation; meanwhile, a rogue priest sets out to stop a long-rumored prophecy and Lucifer faces a new challenge: Eve, the original sinner. The season opens with Chloe investigating a beekeeper's murder with Lucifer, while insisting she's completely fine with the situation. Then, Chloe and Lucifer look into a murder on the set of a reality show. Father Kinley presses forward with a plan. Amenadiel reconsiders his idea of home. Next, an ex-gang member's murder may mask an even darker crime. Lucifer catches Chloe in a lie. Dan and Maze go rogue. Linda braces for looming motherhood.

The fifth season of LUCIFER premiered on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the first eight episodes of the new season. Lucifer makes a tumultuous return to the land of the living in hopes of making things right with Chloe. A devil's work is never done. In the season opener, "Really Sad Devil Guy," Lucifer toys with a murder victim while Chloe and Maze investigate the death; meanwhile, Amenadiel cleans up the club, and Linda mothers a genius. Season 5 also includes a black-and-white noir detective story (Episode 4), and later, a musical episode, guest starring Debbie Gibson. On Friday, May 28, 2021, Netflix released the final eight episodes of the fifth season (Season 5B) on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Lucifer makes a tumultuous return to the land of the living in hopes of making things right with Chloe. In the mid-season premiere, "Family Dinner," Chloe and Ella investigate a mini-golf murder. Lucifer, Michael, Amenadiel and Linda prepare for the holiest of family dinners.

LUCIFER returned for its sixth and final season on Friday, September 10, 2021, as Netflix released the entire 10-episode new season. Lucifer scored the promotion, but does he really want the job? Plus, Chloe prepares to give up detective work, Amenadiel joins the LAPD, and more. In the season opener, "Nothing Ever Changes Around Here," before Lucifer starts his new job, he and Chloe experience a magical night with a murderous end. Linda and Amenadiel host Maze and Eve for dinner. Season 6 also features an animated episode, "Yabba Dabba Do Me."
