Plot Synopsis
Narrated by Ray Liotta, THE MAKING OF THE MOB: NEW YORK is an eight-part series that mixes re-enactments with first-person interviews, archival footage and visual effects to trace the rise of Charles "Lucky" Luciano, Meyer Lansky, Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel and other notorious gangsters from their beginnings as a neighborhood gang of teenagers to murderous entrepreneurs and bootleggers who organized the criminal underworld, turning the Mafia into an American institution. This series features interviews with notable names including former NYC Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, Meyer Lansky II, Chazz Palminteri, Drea de Matteo, Joe Mantegna, Frankie Valli, Mob attorney and former Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman and noted author and historian David Pietrusza, among many others. Plus, each Mob Monday, AMC extends the Mafia theme by partnering each episode of this series with a mobster film as a lead-in.

On Monday, August 3, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, AMC premiered the Season 1 finale of THE MAKING OF THE MOB. In the season ender, "End Game," Vito Genovese and Carlo Gambino make their move; when Genovese becomes a liability, Luciano must choose his successor. Three days before finale, AMC announced at Television Critics Association that it renewed the series for a second season of eight episode. Season 2, THE MAKING OF THE MOB: CHICAGO, will premiere in 2016 and document the emergence of organized crime in Middle America through the rise and fall of iconic gangster Al Capone -- from Capone's early days in New York running the streets with Lucky Luciano and Bugsy Siegel, to his prolonged war with the Irish gangs of Chicago and his final battles with Eliot Ness and law enforcement.
