Plot Synopsis

New York Times technology columnist David Pogue shows and explains the latest breakthroughs in science and engineering. But David does more than that, he focuses on the people and the personal qualities that made these developments possible, showing how talent, luck and determination all played a role in the invention process. Each episode focuses on a different qualities of these inventions: stronger, smaller, cleaner and smarter in Season 1; and faster, colder, safer and wilder in Season 2. The four episodes of Season 1 were: "Stronger," which highlights the development of the world's strongest materials -- from metals to Kevlar to imitation spider silk; "Smaller," which looks at the world of nanotechnology, showing how even the smallest materials affect the big picture; "Smarter," which focuses on cross-disciplinary innovations and the effects of biology and material science; and "Cleaner," which explores the world of clean energy and green materials.
