Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Heidi Klum & Tim Gunn, MAKING THE CUT brings together an international group of 12 talented entrepreneurs and designers who are competing to turn their fledging brands into the next big global phenomenon. A team of famous fashion experts join Heidi and Tim as judges, including Naomi Campbell, Nicole Richie, Joseph Altuzarra, Carine Roitfeld and Chiara Ferragni. In challenges that will take them to New York City, Paris and Tokyo, these hopeful designers must prove they not only have excellent design skills, but the ability to run all aspects of a global fashion business to walk away with the $1 million prize to invest in their brand. Winning looks from MAKING THE CUT will be shoppable on Amazon immediately following each episode. The series is produced by Amazon Studios and SKR Productions, and is executive produced by Sara Rea, Page Feldman, Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn and Jennifer Love. MAKING THE CUT premiered Friday, March 27, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Amazon Prime Video released the first two episodes. MAKING THE CUT returned for its second season on Friday, July 16, 2021, as Amazon Prime Video released the first two episodes of the new season, which is once again hosted and executive produced by Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn. The eight-episode fashion competition series, which brings together a diverse group of 10 visionary designers and entrepreneurs, drops two new episodes each week, culminating in a grand finale with an epic runway show on August 6. Throughout the competition, designers who do not "make the cut" are eliminated, with the winner crowned during the finale episode receiving the ultimate prize of $1 million to invest in their business, the opportunity to sell a collection in Amazon Fashion's store, and a mentorship with Amazon Fashion. Judging their looks and business acumen are some of fashion's most exciting and fresh names, global supermodel Winnie Harlow and Moschino Creative Director Jeremy Scott, plus guest judges, including award-winning fashion designer and activist Prabal Gurung and costume designer and celebrity stylist Shiona Turini. The 10 designers for Season 2 are: Ally Ferguson (Los Angeles, CA); Andrea Pitter (Brooklyn, NY); Andrea Salazar (Medellin, Colombia); Dushyant Asthana (Jaipur, India); Gary Graham (Franklin, NY); Joshua Scacheri (London, England); Lendrell Martin (South Orange, NJ); Lucie Brochard (Paris, France); Olivia Oblanc (New Orleans, LA); and Raf Swiader (Sosnowiec, Poland).

Season 3 of MAKING THE CUT premiered on Friday, August 19, 2022, as Prime Video released the first two episodes of the new season. Hosts and executive producers Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn return, and are joined by judges Nicole Richie and Jeremy Scott. Los Angeles' fashion scene continues to be the backdrop, with some of this season's runway locations including the iconic Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, the unique desert landscape of Vasquez Rocks, and a rooftop of one of Downtown LA's many skyscrapers with sweeping views of the city skyline. Season 3 features a new group of 10 entrepreneurs and designers from around the world who are ready to take their emerging brands to the next level and become the newest global phenomenon. In the instantly shoppable series, limited editions of the winning look from each episode will be available for purchase exclusively in Amazon Fashion's Making the Cut store. The winner of the series will receive $1 million to invest in their business and a mentorship with Amazon Fashion. The winner will also have an opportunity to create an exclusive co-brand with Amazon Fashion and launch their existing brands in the Amazon Fashion store. The new season also features new brand collaborations, including an activewear challenge with iconic brand Champion, and expanded collections from each week's winning designers, giving fans and customers even more opportunities to shop in Amazon Fashion's Making the Cut store. On Friday, September 9, 2022, Prime Video released the final two episodes of MAKING THE CUT's third season. In the penultimate episode, "Concept Store," after spending one month away to focus on their final collection, four designers -- Georgia, Jeanette, Yannik, and Rafael -- return to the studio to prep their concept stores. With the finale in sight, one designer goes home before their collection sees the light of day. Then, in season the finale, the final designers present a business pitch to the President of Amazon Fashion and showcase a final-ten look collection. One designer is crowned the winner.
