Plot Synopsis

Based on Asako Yuzuki's 2013 book, "Ito-kun A to E," THE MANY FACES OF ITO is a half-hour scripted series that centers on Rio Yazaki, a jaded rom-com screenwriter in her '30s, who mines four love-sick women for their stories under the guise of providing them with romantic advice. But all five women have something in common: they were all damaged by a creep named Ito. The series opens with Rio offering relationship advice at a promotional event, and then deciding to dig deeper when she spots a common thread between four of the women. Focusing on the beautiful sales associate Tomomi, Rio urges her to lend Ito money even after he neglects her and puts her down. The Ito described by Shuko, the second woman Rio consults with, is a self-centered, obliviously rude annoyance -- not unlike an up-and-coming writer Rio knows. Shuko's story connects perfectly with Tomomi's, much to TV producer Tamura's delight, making Rio even more hopeful for her screenplay. From the outside, pretty and popular Satoko's got the perfect life. But Rio detects a hidden loneliness, and she can't wait to dig deeper. Feeling insecure over her best friend Miki's relationship, Satoko decides to seduce Ito, putting her friendship in jeopardy. After getting dumped by Ito, Miki calls up an old friend -- and it's none other than Rio's young rival, Kuzuken. But that's not the only coincidence. In the end, Rio finally finds out who Ito really is, and she's repulsed. Moreover, Ito's written his own script, and it's dangerously similar to hers. THE MANY FACES OF ITO had its U.S. premiere on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire eight-episode series.
