Plot Synopsis

MARADONA IN MEXICO is a half-hour documentary series that follows retired Argentinian soccer great Diego Maradona, as he comes to Culiacan, Mexico, the heart of the Sinaloa Cartel, to save the local team, the Dorados -- and maybe himself. The Dorados are at the bottom of the rankings when Maradona arrives, and the experts predict disaster when Maradona arrives. Maradona is generous and warm toward his players. Many, like him, come from poor families. But the passionate coach also has a temper. The fans who follow the team are thrilled with Maradona's coaching. Suddenly, the Dorados look like contenders, unthinkable a year before. The Dorados are on the verge of moving to the first division when Maradona blows up at the referees. Still, hope reigns, and the team keeps fighting. Netflix released the entire seven-episode series on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT.
