Plot Synopsis

This annual bowl game began in 2002, then called the Continental Tire Bowl, when Virginia and West Virginia played in front of a 73,535-person crowd at Bank of America Stadium. From 2005-2010, the event had a new title sponsor and was called the Meineke Car Care Bowl. In 2010, the Charlotte Sports Foundation was formed and took over managing the Bowl Game, which lead to a decade-long relationship with Belk, which sponsored the Belk Bowl from 2011-2019. Since 2020, Duke's Mayo has been the sponsor. This game has always featured an ACC team against a team from the Big East (2002-2013), SEC (2014-2019), and alternating between the Big Ten in even-numbered years and SEC in odd-numbered years (2020-2025).
