Plot Synopsis

Set in 1962, MISSION CONTROL is a half-hour comedy series that examines what happens when a tough but brilliant female aerospace engineer, Dr. Mary Kendricks, butts heads with a macho astronaut, Tom, and the rest of male-dominated NASA in the race to land on the moon. Navigating the ridiculous boys' club of astronauts and engineering nerds is no easy task, but Mary's up to the challenge, until her boss brings on Tom -- a former hotshot test pilot and overall man's man -- to co-manage her leading team of NASA scientists at the cutting edge of space exploration. Between him, her astronaut boyfriend Cash, and her offbeat all-guy team, Mary certainly has her hands full, but at the end of the day, they all want the same thing: to get a man on the moon. And it might just take a woman to get him there. Mary's team includes: Arthur, an engineer; Kovacik, the team's weirdo genius; Gordie, an earnest and good looking team member; and Jessica, Mary's bombshell secretary, who tries to get her boss to learn flirting to advance her career. Will Ferrell is an executive producer of MISSION CRITICAL. In a May 11, 2014 press release for its upfront presentation, NBC announced that this series will premiere Midseason 2014-2015.
