Plot Synopsis

Ben Donovan is the self-involved manager of a second-rate San Diego sports arena, and he begins to re-evaluate his life on his 40th birthday. The arena staff includes: Crystal, the attractive and highly erratic arena owner -- and she's Ben's boss; Alice, the cute, tomboyish marketing director -- and she's Ben's friend with benefits; Heather, a pretty, sweet but terrifying woman who once lit her boyfriend on fire -- and she's Ben's assistant; Alonzo, a handsome and unbelievably happy former basketball player; Crystal's son, Roman, who is sweet-faced and clueless -- and he's Ben's newest employee; and a hapless operations crew whom Ben refers to collectively as the "Steves."
