Plot Synopsis

Created and produced by Josh Wakely with the counsel of Executive Music Producer Smokey Robinson, MOTOWN MAGIC is a quarter-hour animated series that features episodes inspired by classics covered by contemporary artists, including hits made famous by the likes of Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5, Lionel Richie, The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and many more. The series follows Ben, a wide-eyed 8-year-old with a big heart and an amazing imagination, who uses a magic paintbrush to bring the street art in Motown to life. Ben is joined by his 5-year-old sister, Ella (whose name comes from the Stevie Wonder song "Sir Duke"), who is boisterous, hyperactive, and cheeky. Mickey is the popular cool guy a school, but beneath his ultra-cool persona, he's just a goofy comedian with a good heart, who loves to make his friends laugh. Angie is the loudest and most gregarious of Ben's friends, and has a tendency to leap before she looks, something that gets her, Ben and Mickey into lots of adventures -- and even more trouble. Jimmy Mack is a part car/part living being, a high-performance vehicle that's always ready to take Ben and his palls on a wild magic adventure. Armed with a backpack that can spray out chalk of all different colors, Skywriter has the ability to convey amazing ideas and stories through her beautiful sketches in the sky. Covers include: Skylar Grey performing Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered"; Becky G singing Stevie Wonder's "For Once in My Life"; Ne-Yo performing Stevie Wonder's "Superstition"; Calum Scott singing Stevie Wonder's "I Heart It Through the Grapevine"; BJ The Chicago Kid performing Ike & Tina Turner's "Living For The City"; Trombone Shorty covering Jr. Walker & the All Stars's "(I'm A) Road Runner"; and more. Netflix released 25 episodes of MOTOWN MAGIC on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT.
