Plot Synopsis

MOUNTAIN MOVERS is a reality series that follows Chris 'Gunny' Gunnarson and the rest of his crew at Snow Park Technologies (SPT), as they design and build competition courses for Winter Action Sports events, like the Dew Tour, an Olympic training camp, the ESPN X Games and the U.S. Open. In the 16 years since SPT was born, Gunnarson and his crew have designed and built more than 250 competition courses, including all of the Winter X Games in the United States and Europe, the Burton U.S. Open and the Winter Dew Tour. Now, this series goes behind the scenes, revealing how the team transforms snow, wood and metal into epic halfpipes, freestyle ramps and slope courses -- all while battling winter weather, avalanches, malfunctioning equipment, and big personalities. Each one-hour episode features a build for a different event, including: the Dew Tour in Breckenridge, CO, where SPT creates a massive, Mountain Dew signature stairset and rail feature that contain the biggest wall they've ever built; an Olympic training camp for elite Red Bull athletes, where a lack of snow forces the team to redesign the course before Red Bull pulls the plug; the ESPN X Games in Aspen, CO, where Gunny has been the course designer for all 17 years but still feels pressure to build the most intense courses ever; the U.S. Open, held in Vail, CO, for the first time, where the team builds a one-of-a-kind re-entry feature and retouches the signature half pipe on the course; and many more winter action sports events. The SPT team includes: Chris 'Gunny' Gunnarson, the creator and owner of SPT, who at a young age became interested in the infrastructure necessary to fuel his snow sport passion and became fascinated with the concept of moving tons of frozen water to create winter wonderlands; Mike Bettera, Director of Operations, who works with resorts to help them stay up-to-date and relevant within the industry; Mike Binnell, Director of Logistics, who was Gunny's original SPT partner and knows how to run every piece of machinery; Chris Castaneda, Director of Operations of X Games, who has worked with Gunny since his teen years, developing into an organized, calculated manager of time and personnel; Sarah Castaneda, General Manager, who acts like a den mother, keeping the guys focused on their jobs; Josh Chauvet, Director of Resort Programs, who manages the relationships with resorts and coordinates events; Elliot Cone, Project Manager, who is the joker in the group, but is considered to be the best slope-style course builder in the business; Tyrone Coyne, Shop Supervisor & Lead Fabricator, who fabricates jib features from scratch for each individual project; Aaron Dettling, Designer & Project Manager, who is the detail-driven, engineer-minded member of the crew, specializing in the design and layout of features as well as handling the finishing work on the course; Corley Howard, Project Manager, who is a 19-year veteran snowcat operator, as well as a former X Games athlete and skicross champion; Sean Picard, Shop Assistant, who works with Tyrone to cut, chop, tack, fit and weld steel parts together to create some never-been-attempted jib features; and Frank Wells, Project Manager & Director of Business Development, who is the best halfpipe builder in the world and acts as SPT's ambassador to the action sports business.
