Plot Synopsis

MUSTANG MILLIONAIRE is a one-hour reality series that follows cowboys and cowgirls as they prepare for the 2013 Mustang Million in Fort Worth, Texas, by selecting a mustang at an adoption auction, breaking and training the horse over four months, and then competing for the grand prize. Each year the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) removes horses from the range in order to sustain natural resources (grass and water) necessary for the wild horses and other wildlife to live on public land. The Mustang Heritage Foundation, which organizes the Mustang Million, works with experts who have the knowledge, experience and facilities to gentle and/or train a wild horse. The process begins at adoption auctions that take place across the United States -- in Oregon, California, Texas and Tennessee -- as cowboys and cowgirls buy horses they dream of taking to Mustang Million. Over the course of four months, not only do the contestants have to break and train their mustangs, they must also think of a horse stunt that is imaginative and daring, and create choreography that demonstrates their command of the animal. On their way to the biggest competition of its kind, these horses and their trainers compete at local events, working hard on their routines for the million-dollar race. Then, they converge on Fort Worth, Texas for a week of competition, with the champion of the Mustang Million Legends Division taking home $200,000 and a 2014 Ram Truck. At Mustang Million, trainers complete three preliminary classes -- including horsemanship, trail and a pattern class -- with the top 20 trainers (based on combined prelim scores) invited back for the freestyle finals. MUSTANG MILLIONAIRE follows these trainers on their journey to Mustang Million: Bobby Kerr, the winner of the previous year's competition, whose humility and wisdom give him a true competitive edge, as he trains his mustang, Jingle Bob, at his Texas ranch; 'Extreme Wylene' Wilson Davis, a gutsy cowgirl, who would turn heads even if she wasn't riding an 800-pound animal, like King of Hearts; Travis Dittmer, a seasoned horse trainer passing along that know-how to his twin boys, Jayde and Jerrad, who are working with mustangs Miss Kay and Quigley in the Youth Division; Mary Miller-Jordan, a devoted mother, who has a spiritual connection with horses, like Flying Colors, who she trains at her home in North Carolina; and Jonathan 'J-Dub' Weisiger, a natural entertainer, who he hasn't met an audience that he doesn't like, but struggled to find his horse at auction.
