Plot Synopsis

MY BIG FAMILY RENOVATION is a half-hour reality series that follows mommy blogger Jen Hatmaker and her husband Brandon, as they and their five kids live in a 105-year-old fixer upper while the couple transforms it into their dream home. The series opens with the Hatmakers looking for a fixer upper house in Buda, Texas (near Austin) that will fit their growing family of seven. They tour two houses, but decide to purchase a 1908 farmhouse that they can reconfigure to fit six bedrooms. They pack up their old house and make the move across town to the historic neighborhood within Buda to begin their new renovation adventure which requires them to pitch in and live through its major overhaul. The renovation includes the addition of bathrooms and a rec room as well as the conversion of old attic space into bedrooms. Jen and Brandon want the home completed as quickly as possible, but with five kids, looming deadlines and major issues with the old farm house, it's a challenge to transform it into an open floor plan, six-bedroom home that they'll love.
