Plot Synopsis

This reality series follows four mother-daughter pairs who are expecting at the same time, from pregnancy through childbirth and their first months as moms. Four mothers deal with the surprising news that they are pregnant again, while simultaneously handling the sheer shock that their teenage daughters are unexpectedly pregnant at the same time. Each of the four families deals in their own unique way with their unplanned circumstances, but they all must figure out how to fight through their battles and learn to lean on each other while they come to terms with their new lives. The four mother-daughter pairs are: Lorna (41), pregnant with her fifth child with her long-term boyfriend, Chuck, who she already has two children with, while her daughter, Chae (19), didn't think she would ever be able to conceive following surgery for pre-cervical cancer; Nicole (34), a former teen mom with her sixth child, who is having her second with current boyfriend AJ, while her daughter, Mariah (16), is adamant that she will still finish school and make something of herself; Kristi (42), expecting a girl with husband Bill, who fear they will have to support their new grandchild, while their daughter, Kimberly (16), deals with her boyfriend, who has been ordered by the courts to go to rehab and has been absent for most of her pregnancy; and Lemhele (34), a former teen mom, who is trying to figure out how to fit two new babies in their small three-bedroom apartment, while her daughter, Shaniyah (14), claims she had no idea she was pregnant, still wants to become a lawyer and is determined to make it to Harvard. TLC first aired this program as a one-hour special on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 10pm ET/PT, ten months before the network brought the show back as a six-episode series. The special documented the lives of four mother-daughter pairs, who were not featured in the series.
