Plot Synopsis

Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage are special-effects experts who use their expertise in prototyping along with the scientific method to test urban legends, movie scenes and internet rumors. At the end of a series of experiments, the duo decides whether the myth is busted, plausible or confirmed. In October 2012, MYTHBUSTERS returned for its 11th season by exploring the answer to one of the show's most-sent myths: "In the movie TITANIC, did the character Jack really have to die? Couldn't he and Rose both fit on the wooden board and survived together?" Adam, Jamie, and TITANIC director James Cameron break down this tragic Titanic tale of human survival and put the controversy to bed. On Wednesday, May 1, 2013, this series returned with its Spring premiere at 9pm ET/PT, immediately following a new one-hour special, "Blast from the Past." MYTHBUSTERS returned for its 12th season on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT on Discovery, with a 75-minute STAR WARS-themed episode. In the season opener, Jamie, Adam, Tory, Kari and Grant -- with the help of guest star Sophia Bush -- explore a number of questions about this classic film franchise. On Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT, Discovery Channel premiered the thirteenth season of MYTHBUSTERS, with hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman returning on their own for a new batch of episodes that each focus only on two myths. In the Season 13 opener, "The Simpsons: D'oh!," Adam and Jamie -- along with special guest Al Jean, executive producer and show runner of THE SIMPSONS -- tackle myths from the greatest animated TV series of all time. Would Homer's tubby torso really absorb the impact of a wrecking ball swinging into his house? And could a cherry bomb really cause a Bellagio-like simultaneous eruption of toilet bowls? Later in the season, Adam and Jamie put the legendary Indiana Jones and his hijinks to the test, challenge the science of the virtual world rendered in video games, put THE A-TEAM under the microscope, and much more. Over the past 12 years, the team has tested 960 myths, filmed over 8000 hours, created 864 explosions and used 57,800 yards of duct tape. MYTHBUSTERS returned with new episodes on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel. In the summer premiere, "Blow It Out The Water," Adam and Jamie attempt to blow a boat clean out of the water using 1,000 lbs of high explosives. They also take on the most requested myth of the year when they team up with BREAKING BAD EP Vince Gilligan to test out the ability of a homemade machine gun, just like the one Walter White used in the BREAKING BAD finale. After 248 episodes, 2950 experiments, 1050 myths, and 900 explosions, hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman say goodbye to the series with a final season that starts January 9, 2016 at 8pm ET/PT on Discovery. For the eleventh and final season, Adam and Jamie say goodbye to the show in the grandest possible fashion. They'll tackle some of the biggest myths they've ever tested from classic categories that made the show part of our cultural lexicon: car stunts, social science, viral videos, explosions (of course!), and rockets. To top it off, they've figured out the ultimate way to go out with a bang. Fans can submit their farewell using #MythYouGuys on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Some of the best will be featured in the final season as the guys say their own goodbyes.

On Saturday, March 5, 2016 Discovery premiered the series finale of MYTHBUSTERS at 8pm ET/PT and the series reunion at 9pm, immediately following an all-day marathon (9am-8pm) of encore episodes. In the season ender (8pm), "The MythBusters Grand Finale," prepare to be blown away by the most epic grand finale in television history. Then, in the one-hour reunion (9pm), all five MythBusters -- Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman, Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara -- come together for one last hurrah in an unforgettable reunion special. Deep within M5, the MYTHBUSTERS will join forces to pull back the curtain as never before and give an enlightening and emotional farewell to the television icon. Additionally, very special guests and celebrity fans will pay tribute to the groundbreaking series in the reunion special. The day following the series finale of MYTHBUSTERS on Discovery, Science Channel premieres a never-before-seen episode from the series on Sunday March 6 at 8pm. This special episode features one of the duo's favorite mechanical cure-alls: duct tape. During the run of MYTHBUSTERS, duct tape has been the focus of many stories and crucial to almost every myth the team has tackled. Adam and Jamie have built boats, hats and even a bridge, and they have one more duct tape build up their sleeves. In this special episode, viewers will see the duct tape build to end all duct tape builds in size, engineering, complexity and sheer ambition.
