Plot Synopsis

With the help of special-effects and fire-safety professionals and experts from various fields of demolition, chemistry, and radiation, hosts Teddy Wilson and Norm Sousa conduct experiments by doing exactly what consumer products warn users not to do. The duo stages elaborate trials using conventional products, household appliances, volatile gases, and professional-grade explosives -- essentially whatever they can get their hands on -- to reveal the extreme dangers lurking behind commonplace warnings. With 20 cameras capturing every angle -- including highly-specialized "Phantoms" that can record 2,650 frames per second for slow-motion replay -- NEVER EVER DO THIS AT HOME showcases the legitimate physics and chemistry behind the outrageous cause-and-effect consequences of Wilson and Sousa's experiments. Their experiments include: a death match between a toaster and a popcorn maker; making spaghetti in a washer/dryer; brewing coffee and beer in a hot water tank; filling car tires until they explode; turning a car into a convertible with the help of thermite; gardening with explosives; heating a tin can directly on the stove; making moonshine in the garden shed; flooding a second-floor room to test its threshold for weight; and many more demonstrations, as the hosts precariously mix, ignite, flood, explode, and otherwise wreak havoc on the contents of a charming old farmhouse in southwestern Ontario. Spike aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 11pm ET/PT, showing back-to-back 30-minute episodes.
