Plot Synopsis

Hosted by comedian Owen Benjamin and chef JJ Johnson, THE NEXT GREAT BURGER is a six-episode burger competition series that features 15 chefs from across the country competing in front of a live audience for a $25,000 cash prize. In each half-hour episode, three different chefs descend on St. Louis, where these burger bosses cook and serve their best creations for the hosts and a crowd who weighs in with their votes. At the end of each of the first five episodes, one winner advances, while the other contestants are sent packing. The five winners of the stand-alone episodes are joined by the winner of the Bud and Burgers Championship, and the six compete for the ultimate prize in the season finale, where the winner is awarded this ultimate title, along with a $25,000 prize. Throughout the competition, brewmaster Bryan Derr is on tap to determine which burger best complements a cool glass of suds. Competitors include: Monterey Salka, Trey Lamont & Syd Suntha; Aram Reed, Bob Brazell & Lex Taylor; and many more meat maestros.

On Wednesday, August 26, 205 at 10pm ET/PT, Esquire premiered the season finale of THE NEXT GREAT BURGER. In the season ender, "Finale," six of the best burger flippers in the country come together in St. Louis with $25,000 on the line. Only three make it past the discerning palates of Chef JJ Johnson and comedian Owen Benjamin. And then a hungry crowd will decide who has The Next Great Burger.
