Plot Synopsis

Five former college quarterbacks learn to pitch a knuckleball from former All-Star pitcher Tim Wakefield, while competing in elimination challenges as they vie for the grand prize: an invitation to the Arizona Diamondbacks' Spring Training camp and the chance to pitch for the D-backs in a Spring Training game. Taped at Vero Beach Sports Village, the former Spring Training home of the Los Angeles Dodgers, each episode featured the contestants learning from Wakefield how to throw this baffling pitch before facing challenges to test the effectiveness of their knuckleball. One contestant was eliminated from the competition in each episode based on his performance and input from Wakefield and MLB Network analyst Kevin Millar. Plus, Wakefield and Millar were joined by special guests, including: 2012 NL Cy Young Award Winner and knuckleball pitcher R.A. Dickey of the Toronto Blue Jays; Boston Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia; former All-Star knuckleball pitcher Charlie Hough; and 15-year old knuckleball phenom Chelsea Baker, who threw two perfect games for her Plant City Little League team in 2010. The five contestants were: Doug Flutie, who was the 1984 Heisman Trophy winner at Boston College, later enjoying a storied career in the Canadian Football League as well as playing for the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and other NFL teams; David Greene, a quarterback at the University of Georgia, who set the SEC's all-time passing yards record and was drafted in the third round by the Seattle Seahawks in 2005; John David 'J.D.' Booty, who was the starting quarterback for two seasons at USC and was a fifth-round NFL draft selection of the Minnesota Vikings in 2008; Josh Booty, JD's older brother, who first played baseball with the Florida Marlins from 1996-1998 and then was a quarterback at LSU and sixth-round NFL draft selection by the Seattle Seahawks in 2001; and Ryan Perrilloux, who was a quarterback at LSU and Jacksonville State, followed by a stint with the New York Giants, being signed as an undrafted free agent.
