Plot Synopsis

As part of its Characters Unite Month, which USA Network launched to help combat prejudice and discrimination, NFL CHARACTERS UNITE is an annual, one-hour documentary, narrated by Cris Collinsworth, profiling National Football League (NFL) players and coaches, who share their personal journeys of overcoming prejudice and discrimination and help to transform the life of a teen currently dealing with a similar situation. Through candid interviews and unique one-on-one activities, these on- and off-the-field heroes help bring diverse people together, change attitudes and instill courage and compassion. In 2012, the premiere profiled Atlanta Falcons Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez, New Orleans Saints star tight end Jimmy Graham, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward, and Super Bowl-winning Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy. The following year, NFL CHARACTERS UNITE shared the journeys of Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl MVP wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain, Pittsburgh Steelers strong safety Troy Polamalu and New York Giants Pro Bowl defensive end Justin Tuck. The 2014 special featured Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb, New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz and linebacker Mark Herzlich, New York Jets center Nick Mangold, Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman and Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt.

On Friday, February 6, 2015 from 7-8pm ET/PT, USA Network aired the 2015 edition of NFL CHARACTERS UNITE, featuring Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles, Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams and 2014 Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl champion cornerback Richard Sherman and coach Pete Carroll.
