Plot Synopsis

Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, 9-1-1 is a one-hour drama series that explores the high-pressure experiences of police officers, paramedics and firefighters who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping situations. These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. Detective Athena Grant works as a member of the police force, handling cases that require her sharp mind and expertise, while also trying to juggle her own family drama. Bobby Nash and his team of firefighters help execute the daring rescues that often come along with these life-threatening situations. Meanwhile, Abby Clark spends her days taking and fielding emergency calls at the 911 call center, but constantly desires to know what happens after she sends help.

The sophomore season of 9-1-1 premiered on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 8pm ET/7pm CT/6pm MT/5pm PT, immediately following THE OT and FOX's NFL Sunday late-afternoon football game, featuring the Dallas Cowboys at the Seattle Seahawks. (Note that the start time in all time zones may by later, depending on the duration of the football game.) On one of the hottest days of the year, the first responders feel the pressure as harrowing incidents keep happening around the city, including a road rage accident involving a van full of tourists, an emergency at an auto-repair shop and a veteran with a live grenade embedded in his leg. Meanwhile, Buck gets a surprise visit from his sister, Maddie. Also, Athena questions her relationship with Bobby. Then, at the fire station, handsome new hire Eddie jeopardizes Buck's chances of being chosen for a fireman calendar. Guest Cast: Debra Christofferson as Sue Blevins; M.C. Gainey as Charlie; Christopher Rivas as Hector. 9-1-1 moves to its regular timeslot -- Mondays at 9pm -- the following day with a new episode, "7.1." In the finale of the two-part season opener, a massive earthquake rocks Los Angeles, and the first responders rush to rescue victims from a crumbling high-rise hotel both under the rubble and high above the ground. Athena must deal with wreckage from a collapsed freeway overpass and Maddie is thrown into the fire as she faces her first crisis as a 911 dispatcher. After a four-month break, 9-1-1 returned with new episodes on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT on FOX. In the spring premiere, "New Beginnings," Bobby meets Athena's parents for the first time and Maddie attempts to end her marriage for good, causing Doug (guest star Brian Hallisay) to insinuate himself even deeper into Chimney's life. Meanwhile, a tanker carrying a tiger shark crashes on the freeway and a gas leak in a plastic surgeon's office happens mid-surgery.

On Monday, September 23, 2019 at 8pm ET/PT, FOX premiered the third season of 9-1-1. In the season opener, "Kids Today," Athena enlists the 118's help when a teenager speeds out of control on the freeway. Meanwhile, a routine traffic stop uncovers a shocking kidnapping and Buck struggles with his recovery. On Monday, March 16, 2020 at 8pm ET/PT, FOX debuted "Seize the Day," the spring premiere of 9-1-1. The 118 responds to a skydiving trip gone wrong, a bank rep injured in a home repossession and a lovestruck assistant whose lunch run ends in disaster. Meanwhile, Athena and the family come to terms with Michael's difficult health decision and Chimney's half-brother from Korea (guest star John Harlan Kim) unexpectedly shows up at his doorstep.

On Monday, January 18, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT, FOX premiered the fourth season of 9-1-1, which kicks off with another jaw-dropping signature disaster that only Los Angeles' finest and fearless first responders can handle. After a devastating 8.0 earthquake and coastal tsunami wreaked havoc in the city, what could possibly be next? Meanwhile, among the chaos, Athena is determined to put her physical and emotional injuries behind her and jump back into the job, as Maddie and Chimney prepare for the birth of their baby, and Buck delves into his past to help deal with his present. In the season opener, "The New Abnormal," the Hollywood Reservoir dam breaks, so Bobby and the 118 race into action to save passengers on a city bus that has crashed into a building several stories in the air. Maddie must first locate, and then rescue, a trapped cyclist, and Athena helps an agoraphobic woman evacuate her home. Meanwhile, the team adjusts to life as first responders during the pandemic. Bobby worries if Athena is ready for field duty since recovering from her physical and psychological injuries; Chimney takes extreme precautions around a pregnant Maddie; and May begins a surprising new job.

Tonight (Monday, March 1, 2021) at 8pm ET/PT, FOX premieres "There Goes the Neighborhood," a new episode of 9-1-1. The 118 rush to save a man pinned under a Humvee, and a garage band that rocks out too hard. Enlisting Bobby and Athena's help, Michael installs a new "rear window," and turns into an amateur detective after noticing strange behavior at a nearby apartment. Meanwhile, Hen's mother unexpectedly arrives and announces she is moving to LA, and Buck's re-entry into the dating pool ends in disaster.
