Plot Synopsis

Grammy-winning singer Jill Scott portrays Precious Ramotswe, a tough-minded woman who used her father's inheritance to start "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" in Botswana. It's #1, in part, because it's the only female-owned detective agency in Botswana. Working out of a technology-challenged, converted post office, Precious and her quirky assistant Grace help people solve problems in their lives. Their clients are usually women and the cases often involve a cheating husband, a dishonest dentist, or a sweet-talking swindler. Since she doesn't have access to high-tech gadgets, Mma Ramotswe relies on her keen powers of observation to solve these crimes. This series premiered on BBC1 in the UK and then aired on HBO in the United States.
