Plot Synopsis

Using mind-bending stats, eye-opening man-on-the street experiments, and interactive game play, data scientist and host Jake Porway explores the numbers behind life's mysteries and provides clues, news and answers on how to deal with various situations. In each 60-minute episode, Porway tackles one topic, such as: "When Will You Die?," revealing how genetic makeup accounts for only about 25% of potential life expectancy and what people can do to affect the other 75%; "Will You Make a Million?," presenting cutting edge facts and real-life scenarios that demonstrate how people can grow their bank accounts; and "What Drives You Crazy?," chronicling life's annoyances, including co-workers' behaviors, grating sounds and the obnoxious guy texting in his car.

After airing three episodes on consecutive Mondays in April and May 2013, Nat Geo brought THE NUMBERS GAME back for a second season of half-hour episodes on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 9:30pm ET/PT. In the Season 2 premiere episode, "Could You Be a Hero?," Jake proves that heroes aren't necessarily the biggest or strongest among us. They can be everyday people, and something as simple as volunteering can increase the chances of becoming a hero by 33 percent. According to statistics, 1 in 5 people will be a hero during their lifetime. You'll learn what it takes to be a hero, how to hone two vital heroic skills and how to control your body's hero chemical in order to be ready, whenever duty calls.
