Plot Synopsis

A team of underwater explorers, including Philippe Cousteau, embarks on a yearlong mission to the world's most famous oceans to unlock their mysteries, including the world of undersea archaeology, geology, marine biology and anthropology. The eight 60-minute episodes are: Sea of Cortez, where marine experts carry out pioneering science on the 20-meter-long sperm whale; Southern Ocean, where the waters are warming twice as fast as the rest of Earth's oceans; Red Sea, where the team explores the remote and unexplored southern part of this body of water; Atlantic Ocean, where the team explores only a corner of this vast ocean; Indian Ocean, where marine experts search for the elusive dugong in the tropical waters; Coastal Indian Ocean, where the team explores the coastal waters of the Indian Ocean; Mediterranean Sea, where marine experts find the profound effects man is having; Arctic Ocean, where the team dives beneath the polar ice cap to explore how the ice is shrinking. Planet Green aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 9pm ET as part of its BLUE AUGUST initiative.
