Plot Synopsis

THE OSLO KILLING is a six-episode true-crime documentary series that explores the never-before-told story about the violent killing of Anni Nielsen Iranzo. In April 1974, Anni Nielsen Iranzo was found brutally murdered in her home in Oslo, Norway. She was beaten and strangled with a rope, while two months pregnant. The crime scene was bloody, and told a story of a long and violent battle. The brutality of the act lead the police to investigate only men at first. Anni's husband, a Spanish diplomat, fell into suspicion. The only witness to the murder told a different story. Anni's 4 year-old daughter, Maria, said she saw a woman sitting on her mother's legs. This lead the police to investigate a wealthy American woman, Minna Treadwell Thompson, who had an affair with Anni's husband. The Norwegian police were convinced that they had found the killer, but were never able to have Minna extradited from the U.S. Consequently, no one was ever convicted for the crime. The daughter Maria does not believe the story she's always been told about her mother's murder. This six-part Scandinavian series follows her emotional journey across the world to find the truth. THE OSLO KILLING premiered on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, as SundanceNow released the first episode, with a new episode debuting on subsequent Tuesdays through mid-July.
