Plot Synopsis

THE OTHER ONE is a half-hour comedy series about what happens when two women discover their dead dad had a secret family, and they try to make sense of their newly found sister and sort-of-step-mums. Until now Catherine Walcott had no idea that another Catherine Walcott existed -- until their father, Colin, died. One of them -- Cathy -- has a fiance, a Duke of Edinburgh Award, and a pension. Across town, the other one -- Cat -- has a pay-as-you-go phone. The only things they have in common are their names, which is a smart move if you have a secret daughter. Both of them have always wanted a sister -- just maybe not each other. Two weeks after the funeral, Cathy attempts to retrieve Colin's ashes from his other family, while her mum, Tess, decides it's time to get back into the dating game. Cathy and Cat cannot find their dad's will and, at their joint birthday party, their mums war over which family their dead dad loved most. THE OTHER ONE had its U.S. premiere on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Acorn TV released the entire seven-episode first season.
