Plot Synopsis

Executive produced by Stephen Colbert, OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT is a half-hour animated parody series that follows the tru-ish misadventures of the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, and his merry band of advisors and family members. This 10-episode series examines the quintessentially Trumpian details of the presidency and his most important relationships, and no one is safe -- from his close family and confidants to key political figures from both parties and members of the media. In this parallel cartoon universe, the Commander-in-Chief opens the White House doors for an "all access" look at a typical day in the life of the President of the United States. On January 28, 2018 -- two weeks before the official series premiere on Sunday, February 11 -- Showtime released a sneak peek of the series premiere on Facebook and SHO.com, in anticipation of the State of the Union Address. After a three-month break, OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT returned with new episodes on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 10:30pm ET/PT on Showtime. In the mid-season premiere, "Russia Investigation," the president tries to survive the Russia investigation with Steve Mnuchin's help while Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer fire up Democrats with a new message.

The 10-episode second season of OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT premiered on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at 8pm ET/PT on Showtime. Season 2 features President Trump trying to convince the American people that he's the greatest, least criminal president in history as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer attempt to win back the Democratic base from newcomer Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Episodes include - Trump convincing the American people to pay for Trump Tower-Moscow, proving he's mentally fit enough to possess the nuclear codes and solving climate change to stop his sweating problem, all with help from his cabinet and kids Don Jr., Eric and Ivanka. The series will also follow the candidates fighting for the 2020 Democratic nomination - including Beto O'Rourke, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, and Pete Buttigieg - and introduce new characters Kellyanne Conway, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell. Season 2 guest voices include: Tim Robinson as Justice Brett Kavanaugh; Ziwe Fumudoh as Kamala Harris; and comedians Matt Rogers as Bill Shine and Alise Morales as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. In the season opener, "Trump Tower-Moscow," the President declares a national emergency to build Trump Tower-Moscow while Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer attempt to win back their base from newcomer Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. QUEER EYE's Jonathan Van Ness appears as an animated version of himself in this episode.

OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT returned for its third season on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 8:30pm ET/PT on Showtime. Season 3 includes 18 episodes, with 10 episodes airing until March 29, and returning with 8 episodes to air this fall tied to the 2020 Presidential election. The new season dives into a momentous election year to explore the critical question of who could be the next Cartoon President. From the Iowa caucuses and the Democratic campaigns to the impeachment inquiry, the cartoon universe will expand to include more political heavyweights, media personalities, international leaders, notable billionaires and perhaps one or two nefarious dictators. New cast members Jon Glaser, Kate Berlant, Ed Begley Jr., Matt Lucas, Joe Mande, James Downey, and Anna Drezen join returning cast members Tim Robinson, Jack McBrayer, William Sadler, James Adomian, Griffin Newman, Matt Rogers, Zach Cherry, Ziwe Fumudoh, Emily Lynne, Gabriel Gundacker, and Jeff Bergman. In the season opener, "Impeachment," after the House of Representatives impeaches Cartoon Trump, he teams up with Cartoon Sean Hannity to convince the nation he's been wrongly accused. Meanwhile, Cartoon Elizabeth Warren worries her wonky approach won't connect with Iowa voters and severely dumbs down her campaign with the help of Cartoon Brian Kilmeade, Cartoon Chris Cuomo, and Cartoon Joe Kennedy III. After a six-month break, OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT returned for its Season 3 mid-season debut on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 8:30pm ET/PT on Showtime. In the fall premiere, "Coronavirus," with the pandemic ravaging the country and his reelection in jeopardy, Cartoon Trump launches a propaganda campaign to convince America he's got the crisis under control. Meanwhile, after social distancing guidelines force Cartoon Joe Biden out of the spotlight and into his basement, he enlists Cartoon Barack Obama to help him recapture his former glory.

On Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 8:30pm ET/PT, Showtime premiered "Election Day," the Season 3 finale of OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT. It's Election Day and everyone -- candidates, supporters, news media, even Cartoon Vladimir Putin -- is gearing up to find out who will be the next Our Cartoon President. Will it be Cartoon Donald Trump or Cartoon Joe Biden. Either way, everything is about to change forever.
