Plot Synopsis

Four buddies -- three guys, along with the ashes of their friend Mike Allen -- traveled by RV from Chicago to the Arctic Circle, where they played a round on a three-hole golf course in Inuvik at midnight on the longest day of the year. This foursome traveled more than 5,500 miles over sixteen days, driving 10-12 hours each day, to play a golf course that never thaws out, requiring golfers to carry a piece of thawed turf in a box. Along the way, as they passed through seven states, two provinces and two territories, these buddies also hit the links at Stanley Thompson Resort Course (Banff Springs, Alberta), hit wedges at their friend's urn in a game of "Closest to Mike" in The Yukon, and drove balls down Dempster Highway in the Northwest Territories. The foursome included: Vic Zast, the man behind the plan for this series, who learned about Inuvik from reading a mystery novel while recovering from open heart valve surgery; Dan Johnson, the man in charge of planning all the logistics during the group's journey together, who plays to a 16-handicap; Jim Thompson, the group's philosopher, who carries a 12-handicap and worked with Mike Allen at the Leo Burnett Co.; and Mike Allen, the common link of the group that played every Saturday for over 20 years, whose ashes were sitting in his wife's living room closet until the guys decided to make their momentous trip. Zast partially raised seed funding for production on Kickstarter.com.
