Plot Synopsis

Created, executive produced, and hosted by Diego Luna, PAN Y CIRCO follows Luna as he travels across Baja California, Puebla, Quintana Roo and Mexico City, revisiting the ritual of sharing a meal as a space for conversation and gathering of different points of view. The conversations, moderated by Luna, gather politicians, activists, and different personalities to touch upon fundamental and general interest topics of contemporary societies, combined with menus from renowned Mexican chefs. The topics of the show include gender violence; climate change; decriminalization of abortion; racism and identity; drug legalization; immigration and finally, COVID-19, a remote episode filmed during confinement and with different virtual interviews. The series has 38 dinner guests and sox chefs that feed the conversation, and the table, during each episode. Amazon Prime Video releases the first three episodes of PAN Y CIRCO on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, with two new episodes debuting on Fridays, August 14 & 21. The first three episodes include:

"Chronicles of the pandemic. Covid-19 and its consequences": The series premiere is about how Mexico is in the middle of the pandemic and the strategies we can create to emerge from it. From his home, Diego Luna puts on his chef's hat and discusses with five guests how the pandemic is an opportunity to ground ourselves in a present that will enable us to build a future.

"#NotEvenOneMore. Gender violence": Diego Luna and Chef Alexander Suastegui lay the table so that the guests can discuss the reasons why violence is normalized, the transformative actions in feminist revolutions, and share how it's possible to conceive and imagine different ways to relate to one another.

"Failures of prohibition. Drug legalization": Diego Luna and chef Enrique Olvera engage in conversation with their guests about the effects of prohibitionist policies, the so-called "war on drugs," as well as about possible paths towards marijuana legalization and alternative approaches to prohibition.
