Plot Synopsis

In 2006, two 26-year-olds, Ben Keene and Mark Bowness, made headlines with a revolutionary idea: Lease a paradise island in Fiji (Vorovoro), start a Web site (Tribewanted.com) and convince up to 5,000 strangers from around the world to help build an eco-tourist village alongside a real Fijian tribe. The reality of their dream, however, is no toilet, no water, no shelter, no broadband connection, financial crises and relationships that are tested to the limit. After battling fires, insect infestations, severe water shortages and even living through a coup d'etat, the boys face their greatest test yet -- to not destroy the very beauty they went there to find. Did they create the Utopia they desired, or will the whole project go bust? Nat Geo premiered PARADISE OR BUST in the United States on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 8pm with back-to-back episodes.
