Plot Synopsis

PARTNERS is a half-hour comedy that centers on two Chicago lawyers from vastly different backgrounds -- high-end elitist Allen Braddock and for-the-people Marcus Jackson -- who find themselves in a partnership after a court-ordered sanction, which forces them to balance between the ethical and the unscrupulous in both their professional and personal lives. After his father fires him from the family law firm, Allen seeks to get back in the lawyering game on his own terms -- making big bucks on high profile cases via legal loopholes and skirting ethics. Recently divorced, nice-guy Marcus tries to balance family and operating his law office out of his home, doing cases for neighbors and friends pro-bono -- or even for baked goods. When they unexpectedly meet in court while facing a personal crisis, a court orders them to work together in the hopes that some of Marcus' conscience will rub off on Allen. Now, brought together by fate and desperation, they develop a partnership and friendship. Marcus struggles to be a good father to his sweet, albeit naive and idealistic daughter Laura; a good son to his opinionated old-school mom Ruth; and even tries to get a little bit of work out of his ambivalent assistant Michael. Meanwhile, Allen juggles a step daughter, Lizzie, who came with his brand new shiny young trophy wife. Plus, Veronica, who works at the law firm as an investigator for Marcus and Allen, began as a private investigator while dating a man whom she suspected of cheating -- and started to shadow him to find out. FX aired back-to-back episodes from 9-10pm ET/PT for five consecutive weeks, beginning on Monday, August 4, 2014.

On Monday, September 1, 2014 from 9-10pm ET/PT, FX aired the final two episodes of PARTNERS' initial five-week, ten-episode run. As part of the 10/90 deal between FX and the production companies, PARTNERS will automatically earn a 90-episode second season if the series met ratings milestones for the first 10 episodes.
