Plot Synopsis

From Amy Lippman and Chris Keyser, the creators of the original PARTY OF FIVE, this reboot follows the five Acosta children -- eldest sibling Emilio, fraternal twins Lucia & Beto, youngest sister Valentina and baby Rafa -- as they navigate daily life struggles in Los Angeles to survive as a family unit after their parents, Javier and Gloria, are suddenly deported back to Mexico. A fearful Valentina struggles to sleep at night after the recent loss of her parents. This takes a toll on Beto, who is left to comfort her. Val turns to religion in the hopes of getting her parents back while Lucia denounces that same religion, believing it is only harming her younger sister. Meanwhile, Emilio tries to do right by his father by dismissing Oscar of certain duties, which only offends Oscar and leaves Emilio to run the restaurant on his own. The first episode was available for a special pre-linear sneak peek on Hulu,, the Freeform App, and on demand beginning Wednesday, January 1, 2020.
On Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from 8:30-10pm ET/PT, Freeform premiered "Diaspora," the season finale of PARTY OF FIVE. Val makes a surprising request, with lasting repercussions. Ella surprises Beto in Mexico, and her presence brings forward unexpected truths. Lucia goes out of her comfort zone. Emilio leans on Natalia when the family's social worker comes back.
