Plot Synopsis
For four consecutive weeks, each Monday night PBS INDIES SHOWCASE features a different critically acclaimed documentary from the award-winning series POV and INDEPENDENT LENS. Episodes includes: "Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey" (INDEPENDENT LENS), which follows the iconic rock band Journey and its new front man, an aspiring Filipino singer who guitarist Neal Schon found on YouTube; "Brooklyn Castle" (POV), which follows five members of a champion chess team from I.S. 318, a below-the-poverty-line junior high in Brooklyn; "56 Up" (POV), the eighth film in a series of landmark documentaries that began 49 years earlier with interviews of a diverse group of seven-year-old children from all over England, asking them about their lives and their dreams for the future; and "The Waiting Room" (INDEPENDENT LENS), which explores the United States healthcare system through the eyes of those stuck in an ER waiting room in Oakland, California's Highland Hospital.
