Plot Synopsis

Based on the book "The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson" by Jeffrey Toobin, THE PEOPLE VS. O.J. SIMPSON: AMERICAN CRIME STORY is a limited series that explores the behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court during the O.J. Simpson trial. The series reveals how a combination of prosecution overconfidence, defense shrewdness, and the LAPD's history with the city's African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt. The series opens with the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, leading the LAPD to the home of O.J. Simpson. By the second episode, O.J. is missing in the white Bronco, and Robert Shapiro and Robert Kardashian deal with the fallout, as the D.A.'s office and LAPD scramble to save face and find him. Ryan Murphy, who directed the first two episodes of this limited series, developed the "American Crime Series" franchise to focus each season on a different true crime story that made headlines and captivated the imagination of the public.
