Plot Synopsis

Dr. Daniel Pierce is a neuroscientist and professor recruited to help the federal government crack difficult cases. His intimate knowledge of human behavior and masterful understanding of the mind give him an extraordinary ability to read people, but his eccentric view of the world and less-than-stellar social skills can often interfere with his work. Plus, he struggles with hallucinations and paranoid delusions brought on by his schizophrenia, which occasionally allow him to make connections that his conscious mind can't yet process. At other times, the hallucinations become Daniel's greatest curse, leading him to behave in irrational, potentially dangerous ways, making it difficult for him to achieve the close friendships and intimate relationships. When he becomes overwhelmed, only his favorite music and a crossword puzzle have the power to make things right again. Pierce works with: FBI agent Kate Moretti, Pierce's former student who asks him to consult on certain cases and is willing to look past Daniel's peculiarities; Max Lewicki, his teaching assistant, whose primary job is to keep Pierce in line and on task, whether that means grading midterms or laying out Pierce's wardrobe; Natalie Vincent, Daniel's best friend, who is every bit his intellectual equal; and Paul Haley, a dean at the university and Pierce's friend. In Season 2, Pierce finds it difficult to walk away from his imaginary friendship with Natalie Vincent, but he must do so in order to embark on a romance with his doctor, Caroline Newsome -- both played by Kelly Rowan. Plus, Kate's soon-to-be ex-husband, Donnie, a fast-rising Assistant U.S. Attorney, transfers back to Chicago with a hidden agenda involving Kate. Season 2 premiered on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT on TNT. TNT aired the Season 3 premiere of PERCEPTION on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT. In the season opener, Pierce's picture-perfect new life in Paris is suddenly turned upside down after he is approached by the FBI legat to help with a dangerous international case. Meanwhile, his assistant Max Lewicki and Dean Paul Haley plot to get Pierce to return to Chicago. This season features a multi-episode guest appearance by Peter Coyote as Pierce's estranged father, James. Plus, two series stars direct episodes in Season 3: Eric McCormack (2nd episode, airing June 24) and LeVar Burton (Episodes 9 & 10, airing August 12 & 19). PERCEPTION returned for the second half of its third season on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT on TNT. In the show's Season 3 Winter premiere, "Brainstorm," after Dr. Daniel Pierce suffers a traumatic injury, his father, James, and his friend Paul Haley have to make a difficult choice on whether to allow Pierce to undergo a high-risk surgery. Meanwhile, Pierce works to solve a different kind of murder case that has him questioning everything he sees and hears.

On Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, TNT premiered the series finale of PERCEPTION. In the season ender, "Run," when Moretti goes missing the day of her wedding, Pierce and Donnie set off in pursuit of the runaway bride. They soon learn that Kate has been abducted by a dangerous person from Pierce's own past. Now, Pierce and Donnie must risk everything to save Moretti before it's too late.
