Plot Synopsis

THE PINKERTONS is a nationally syndicated, one-hour drama series that follows a trio at the Pinkerton National Detective Agency -- founder Allan Pinkerton; his son, William; and America's first female detective, Kate Warne -- as they solve crimes throughout the Wild West of the 1860s. Founded in 1850 by Chicago police detective Allen Pinkerton, the Pinkerton National Detective Agency began partnering with law enforcement in 1853 to arrest criminals anywhere in the country. Through the first half of the 1950s, the agency continued to expand, and Allen hired Kate Warne in 1856, making her the first female detective in the United States. In 1861, Pinkerton uncovered and foiled an assassination plot on the life of Abraham Lincoln and conducted him safely through the ranks of treason to his first inauguration. By the 1870s, the Pinkerton Agency had developed the nation's first criminal database, collecting mugshots, newspaper stories, and other pertinent information. This TV series tells stories based on actual cases from the Pinkerton archives, following the Pinkertons as they utilize a mix of burgeoning forensic technology, undercover work, and plain old fisticuffs to get their man -- or woman.
