Plot Synopsis

Legendary naturalist Sir David Attenborough presents the third series in the PLANET EARTH franchise. Seven years after the second installment, the eagerly anticipated PLANET EARTH III journeys across the continents revealing the wonders of our planet. The series features never-before-seen behavior and dives deep into the stories and animal characters which reflect the new challenges that wildlife face in our modern, crowded world. The series also highlights the growing need to preserve and restore nature. In the final episode, viewers meet some of the dedicated 'heroes' across the globe who put their lives on the line to protect the wildlife and the critically important ecosystems of Planet Earth. PLANET EARTH III made its U.S. debut on Saturday, November 4, 2023 on BBC American and AMC+. Episodes include:

"Coasts" (U.S. debut on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 8pm): Sir David Attenborough explores the dangerous frontiers created by the world's coasts, where animals fight for survival amid constant change; there are some unexpected residents on Namibia's Skeleton Coast.

"Ocean" (U.S. debut on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 8pm): Sir David Attenborough unlocks the largest habitat of all the open ocean is the ultimate realm of new discovery housing countless secrets that we are continuing to unlock.

"Deserts and Grasslands" (U.S. debut on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 8pm): Sir David Attenborough explores Earth's greatest deserts and grasslands where nature puts on its most dramatic show. Alien-like saiga antelope battle in the frozen North and a handful of leopards have learned to hunt from trees on the African plains.

"Fresh Water" (U.S. debut on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 8pm): Sir David Attenborough dives into the Earth's fresh water, a rich, diverse habitat that is the home to one tenth of all species on the planet -- and the home to never-ending surprises.

"Forests" (U.S. debut on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 8pm): Sir David Attenborough explores forests as hidden worlds where the lives of animals are entwined, including temperate forests home to whistling wild dogs, as well as rainforests where ninja treehoppers fight off assassin bugs.

"Extremes" (U.S. debut on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 8pm): Sir David Attenborough uncovers the stories of animals that fight to survive extremes -- from tundra to deserts and from mountain summits to deep underground.

"Human" (U.S. debut on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 8pm): Sir David Attenborough reveals how over 8 billion homo sapiens have altered 80% of the land's surface, sharing space with a myriad of species.

"Heroes" (U.S. debut on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 8pm): Conservation advocates take risks to save wildlife by exploring remote jungles, going undercover to catch criminals and making a microlight journey to lead endangered birds to safety.

"The Making of Planet Earth III" (U.S. debut on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 9:20pm): PLANET EARTH III took over five years to make, as the team traveled to every corner of the planet to capture animal dramas while using the latest technology to film behaviors never seen before.
