Plot Synopsis

In this single-camera, half-hour buddy comedy, BFFs Maggie and Emma reunite in their childhood hometown, where they face the challenges of their past, present and future -- together. When Maggie discovers that her husband, Bruce, is having an online affair with a muscular German woman, Emma gives up her burgeoning business career in China to help Maggie raise her baby. Meanwhile, as Maggie prepares for the birth of her first child and the fallout of her marriage ending, Emma confronts the past that she abruptly left behind thirteen years ago -- her first love and local cop Mark, her prim-and-proper mother, and the small town of Pinebrook, CT that she's never felt comfortable in. Despite their differences -- Emma is brash and assertive, while Maggie is grounded and safe -- the women complement each other the way only best friends can. As Emma gets accustomed to being back home, she and the now-married Mark set aside their rocky past -- Emma did turn down his proposal and flee to China -- and become friends again, showing everyone why they were so good together. While Emma mends her relationship with Mark, she struggles to figure out if (and how) she can make her relationship work with her mother, Gwen, especially now that Gwen is in the midst of a midlife renaissance of sorts -- writing beat poetry, wearing open-toed sandals, and discovering the joys of fro-yo. PLAYING HOUSE returned for its second season on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, as USA Network premiered back-to-back new episodes. This season, Maggie and Emma navigate their way through life as co-parents to Maggie's daughter Charlotte. The colorful residents of Pinebrook, CT also return, including Emma's first love Mark. In the season premiere (10pm), "Hello, Old Friend," Maggie, Emma and Charlotte pose for an awkward family picture; Bruce and his mother prepare a traditional family recipe. Then, in the night's second new episode (10:30pm), "Sleepless in Pinebrook," the Property Brothers (guest stars Jonathan and Drew Scott) make over Maggie's body; Emma creates an online dating profile for Maggie; Bruce and Zach spend time with Charlotte. For the second season, viewers can preview next week's episode on their Video-On-Demand platforms. Season 3 of PLAYING HOUSE premiered on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 11pm-Midnight ET/PT, as USA Network debuted back-to-back new episodes. This season, however, they're faced with their biggest challenge yet. In the season opener (11pm), "Cookie Jar," Maggie hosts a game night to welcome Bruce's new girlfriend. Emma learns that "This is 40!" Then in the night's second new episode (11:30pm), "None of Your Business," Emma tries to rescue Tina from a makeup pyramid scheme. Maggie starts a nursing rotation with a doctor who is cold as ice. The entire bingeable eight-episode season is available on VOD the day after premiere.
