Plot Synopsis

Based on the novels by Agatha Christie, POIROT centers on suave Belgian super sleuth Hercule Poirot, as he helps London police investigate crimes and murders -- whether they ask for his help or not. On Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 9-10:30pm ET/PT (check local listings), PBS aired the U.S. premiere of the thirteenth season of POIROT. The season opener, "The Big Four," is set against the backdrop of the impending WWII, as Poirot investigates the shocking death of a Russian chess grandmaster, which puts the public in a panic. One week later, PBS aired "Dead Man's Folly," during which a wealthy financier and his wife throw a party with a "murder hunt" game that Ariadne Oliver convinces Poirot to treat as a real murder case.
