Plot Synopsis

Each half-hour episode includes interwoven short films starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, portraying their dreamy and absurd rendering of Portland, Oregon. PORTLANDIA's inhabitants include: the owners of a feminist book store; a militant bike messenger; an artsy couple who attach cut-outs of birds to everything; an organic farmer who turns out to be a cult leader; an adult hide and seek league; a punk rock couple negotiating a "safe word" to help govern their love life; a misguided Reggae bass playing Mayor; and many more odd and eccentric characters. Plus, new residents move in for Season 2, including the "Sanitation Twins" who take separating trash to a whole new level. Later in the season, Bryce and Lisa's precious Taxidermy Shop is vandalized, Malcolm and Kris are a public failure as parents, Lance and Nina seek out couples therapy, Fred and Carrie attempt to buy a home in Portland's cutthroat real estate market, and more. In the new season, Fred and Carrie deliver even more of their Portland point of view: a couple inadvertently create a ramen noodle monster that wreaks havoc on the city while the Mayor tries to lure a tech company to Portland; Doug and Claire break up, only to wind up frustrated by a way-younger party girl and an overly caring feminist, respectively; Dave and Kath decide to run a marathon that takes place the following day; The Mayor puts the moves on Carrie with a canister of frozen sperm from his office refrigerator; Fred turns grey overnight and, in seeking answers from the universe, gets sucked into a black hole. This season, the series returns to its sketch-driven roots as characters find themselves in all-too-relatable situations: Fred and Carrie attempt to become storytelling experts to impress friends at a dinner party; the Goth couple discover the wonders of Bed Bath and Beyond; Toni and Candace retire from the feminist bookstore and contemplate what's next for their lives; Carrie dates a hunk; Fred tries to start his own Portland-based cell phone company; and much more. On Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT, IFC premiered "Rose Route," the series finale of PORTLANDIA. The Mayor cuts deals all over town to secure the perfect route for the Portland Marathon; Fred and Carrie decide to run to break their addiction to news alerts; Candace's house guest Dolly quickly becomes her new best friend.
