Plot Synopsis

Executive produced by Robert Zemeckis and based on the top-secret investigations into Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and related phenomena conducted by the United States Air Force from 1952-1969, PROJECT BLUE BOOK is a one-hour drama series that is inspired by the personal experiences of Dr. J. Allen Hynek. Hynek, a brilliant yet underappreciated college professor, is recruited by the U.S. Air Force to spearhead a clandestine operation called Project Blue Book. Along with his partner, the debonair Air Force Captain Michael Quinn, he is summoned to investigate UFO sightings around the country and use science to discover what really happened. However, when some encounters cannot be explained away and cases remain open, Hynek begins to suspect that he has been duped by the government into a larger conspiracy to cover up the truth. Over 700 of which remain unsolved to this day. Set against the backdrop of the Cold War and rising Atomic Era, each episode draw from the actual Project Blue Book case files, blending UFO theories with authentic historical events from one of the most mysterious eras in United States history. Each one-hour episode draws from the actual case files blending UFO theories with authentic historical events from one of the most mysterious eras in United States history. Throughout the season, true to life, documented occurrences will be explored such as the Flatwoods Monster incident that took place in West Virginia, the Gorman Dogfight of Fargo, North Dakota, the Lubbock Lights of Lubbock, Texas and the Chiles-Whitted UFO Incident of Montgomery, Alabama among many others. In the series opener, "The Fuller Dogfight," Dr. Allen Hynek and Capt. Michael Quinn investigate the case of a military pilot who survived a dogfight with an alien craft. Based on the "Gorman Dogfight" case.
