Plot Synopsis

PROJECT LOTUS follows a group of songwriters and producers at FarWest Entertainment in 2010, as they create Blush, an English-singing, Pan-Asian, all-girl pop band. As world-renowned songwriters work at Peter Gabriel's Real World studio in the UK, the FarWest team looks for talent in cities throughout five Southeast Asian countries: The Philippines, China, Japan, Korea and India. After seeing and hearing so many talented singers, the judges must select only five girls from each country to attend Project Lotus Academy in Hong Kong. During the six weeks of training and competition, Jon Niermann, Eliot Kennedy and other team members eliminate girls each week until only one young woman remains from each country. At the conclusion of Project Lotus Academy, the newly formed Blush will release its first singles and then tour the following year. The group's first two singles, "Undivided" featuring Snoop Dogg and "Dance On," respectively reached #3 and #1 on the U.S. Billboard Dance Charts. The five women in Blush are: Alisha Budhrani (India), who has been singing since age 10 and has an extensive background in dance and choreography, including Hip Hop, Bollywood, Salsa, Bellydance, Hawaiian and Indian Contemporary; Angeli Flores (Philippines), who won a singing competition in second grade, became a fan favorite in the TV show PINOY IDOL, and is inspired by Alicia Keys because of her voice, music and humble nature; Ji Hae Lee (South Korea), who started singing after graduating from Hoseo University, where she studied Law, and placed in the top 30 of the TV show SUPERSTAR K; Natsuko 'Nacho' Danjo (Japan), who started dancing at age three and has performed in two dance showcases each year since she was six-years-old; and Victoria Chan (China), who was singing "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" by the age of 3 and taking tap dance lessons, later attending the Junior Music Choir program at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. AXS TV aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 2:30pm ET.
