Plot Synopsis
This reality series follows teams as they prepare for the 2012 Punkin Chunkin, which had its World Championship on November 4th and 5th, 2012 at Royal Farms in Bridgeville, Delaware. For 2012, the event was delayed and shortened to only two days to allow the field to dry after Hurricane Sandy. Each 60-minute episode features at least three competitors, including: Under Da Influence, which starts the Punkin Chunkin season in explosive fashion; rookies Not In My Driveway, whose catapult built entirely of trash suffers a catastrophic failure; Shooda Noed Beter, back for a 2nd year, who is determined to prove their human powered catapult is unparalleled; and many more veteran and rookie teams. According to John Ellsworth, one of the four men who is considered as a founding father of the Punkin' Chunkin Association, "It all started back in 1986. We were playing around one day and somebody started talking about throwing pumpkins. There had been an article in a newspaper or on television about some people throwing pumpkins at Salisbury State. A physics class or something. One of us said that they could throw further than someone else and I threw my hat on the ground." Since then, the number of teams and people competing in the annual Punkin Chunkin has continued to grow.
