Plot Synopsis

Based on the movie franchise of the same name, THE PURGE centers on a 12-hour period when all crime -- including murder -- is legal. Set in an altered America ruled by a totalitarian political party, the series is a one-hour series that follows several seemingly unrelated characters living in a small city. As the clock winds down, each character is forced to reckon with their past as they discover how far they will go to survive the night. THE PURGE, written and executive produced by the film franchise creator James DeMonaco, premiered on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on USA Network, with a simulcast on Syfy. In the series opener, "What Is America?," Purge Commencement looms, and several characters find themselves venturing into the chaos of the night.

Season 2 of THE PURGE premiered on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT on USA Network. The second season opens on Purge night but dives deeper than ever before in to what the Purge world looks like the other 364 days of the year. This season, PURGE explores how a single Purge night affects the lives of four interconnected characters over the course of the ensuing year, all inevitably leading up to the next Purge. These four characters are: Marcus Moore, an accomplished professional with a loving wife and a beautiful house, whose seemingly perfect life is shattered when an assassin breaks into his house on Purge night; unassuming yet laser-focused Ryan Grant, who spends his entire year precisely preparing for a massive once-a-year Purge heist with his long-time crew; Ben, a clean-cut, fraternity member from a middle-class suburban family, whose life changes forever when he goes out on Purge night for the first time; and Esme Carmona, a top employee at an NFFA surveillance center, where she has dedicated her life to spotting crimes and digitally tagging lawbreakers.

On Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT, USA Network premiered "7:01 AM," the Season 2 finale of THE PURGE. As Purge Night rages on, Esme, Ryan, Marcus and Ben fight for their lives and their loved ones.
