Plot Synopsis

Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri each lead a team of four kids, who compete in culinary challenges designed to test their culinary know-how. In the end, the junior chef with the highest overall score wins his or her own web series on FoodNetwork.com. In each one-hour episode, the teams first participate in a Pop Quiz, where they show off their talents in the kitchen by creating a signature dish that best expresses their culinary skills, going head-to-head against a kid from the opposing team to create a time sensitive meal with an unforgiving ingredient, and completing other similar challenges. Then, after a classroom mentoring session with Rachael and Guy, the kids chefs create a menu plan and dishes for the Cook-Off Challenge for guest judges, who taste and grade the dishes, giving each competitor a report card with a score. The kid chef with the highest score on each team will be named MVP of that challenge and win a prize. After the season finale, the kid with the highest cumulative score gets to host a web series on FoodNetwork.com. Guest judges for Season 1 include: teen star Stefanie Scott, who enjoys a fresh, healthy, and delicious lunch after the kids watch a video message from First Lady Michelle Obama; Marion Ross, who tastes a beautiful brunch; Chef Duff Goldman, who enjoys extreme food mash-ups inspired by the movie CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2; and TV star Jennie Garth and Chefs Richard Blais, Jack Lee, Antonia Lofaso, Eric Greenspan, and Melissa d'Arabian, who eat a family-style dinner -- but they don't know the meals were prepared by kids. RACHAEL VS. GUY: KIDS COOK-OFF returned for a six-episode second season on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT on Food Network, with these eight young chefs competing for the top prize:
Team Guy: Gibson Borelli, New Jersey; Amber Kelley, Washington; Sean Lew, California; Helen Wilson, Nebraska
Team Rachael: Madison Grant, Illinois; Luis Ortega, New York; Finn Skerlj, Massachusetts; Lauren Zilberman, New York
In the Season 2 premiere, Rachael and Guy kick off the competition with a mini challenge to determine which four kids will be on their teams, by asking the junior chefs to make a family favorite meal that highlights their background and who they are as chefs. After teams have been selected and a winner from each team earns the competition's first prize, it's time for the main challenge: a Street Food Showdown that celebrates the mobile food movement, with each young chef creating their own unique street food offering and presenting it in their camera challenge to be judged by Chef Wolfgang Puck and his family. Subsequent episodes in Season 2 feature these guest judges: Melissa d'Arabian; G. Garvin; Alex Guarnaschelli; Robert Irvine; Jeff Mauro; Curtis Stone; Brian Malarkey; and Haylie Duff.
