Plot Synopsis
In 1992, THE REAL WORLD spawned a new genre of television with its fresh documentary/reality/soap opera formula, and the show's opening describes its premise best: "This is the true story... of seven [or eight] strangers... picked to live in a house...work together and have their lives taped... to find out what happens... when people stop being polite... and start getting real...The Real World." Since 1992 and for more than 20 seasons, the show has basically been the same -- a group of diverse twentysomethings live together, work, party, hook up, dream and share their triumphs and failures. On screen for everybody to see. Starting in July 2012, REAL WORLD's 27th season, seven strangers were stranded on a small island -- right in the middle of the busy harbor of St. Thomas of the US Virgin Islands -- where the roommates can party like pirates and immerse themselves in the Caribbean culture of boating, scuba diving, and dancing in the streets. For Season 28, which premiered on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT, REAL WORLD moved to Portland, Oregon, where two of the city's hippest local eateries employed the roommates. THE REAL WORLD returned for its 29th season on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on MTV, as the series moved to San Francisco for REAL WORLD: EX-PLOSION. The season started off with seven strangers living, partying and hooking up in a beautifully designed loft space in the Polk Gulch neighborhood, but things took a dramatic turn when the exes of the original seven roommates surprisingly took the house by storm and moved right in. On Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT, MTV premiered the 30th season of THE REAL WORLD. This new season, REAL WORLD: SKELETONS, begins in the traditional way with seven strangers moving into an old nightclub turned fabulous urban loft in Chicago's West Loop, as they look forward to high times in the Windy City and leaving their hometowns behind. But each of these roommates has skeletons in their closets -- shattered lives, broken relationships, estranged family members, and dark secrets. They soon discover they cannot run away from their past mistakes as unresolved issues and abhorrent behavior are pushed to the surface when the last person on earth they wanted to see comes knocking on their door. As the skeletons move into the loft, the roommates are forced to deal with their past lives while also balancing living with their new roommates, looking for love, or just having fun as young 20-somethings in the heart of Chicago. Season 31 of THE REAL WORLD premiered on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on MTV with the title THE REAL WORLD: GO BIG OR GO HOME. In the new season, seven strangers are brought together in Downtown Las Vegas for a wild, adrenaline-filled season that will confront their hopes, fears, and anxieties. From the moment they first meet, they are thrown into a series of over the top, daring missions -- some for the entire group and some designed specifically for each individual -- but always with the caveat that if they can't complete the mission, they are sent home and another roommate will take their spot. Living in a tricked out suite atop the Gold Spike hotel, the diverse roommates must learn to live together not knowing what the next day or next hour will bring. From jumping out of a hot air balloon to performing on stage in a strip club, or meeting the birth mom who placed them for adoption, the roommates are forced to face deeply emotional moments from their past while accomplishing dreams they never thought possible. In typical Vegas style, they always 'go big' -- but if they fail, it will be time to go home. REAL WORLD SEATTLE: BAD BLOOD, the 32nd season of REAL WORLD, premiered on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 10pm-Midnight ET/PT, as MTV debuted back-to-back new episodes. The new season has seven strangers move into an upscale loft in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood with the hope of starting an exciting new chapter in their lives, but what they don't know is there are seven other people coming to crash their party. The roommates are given the opportunity to revisit a particularly difficult relationship in their lives, capturing their efforts to work through their "bad blood" while living under one roof. As the first group of houseguests settle in, while the second group -- exes, rivals and estranged family members -- are set on a collision course with the people they dislike most in the world! Before long, the second group of roommates invade the house and both groups are confined to the same space. Now, the 14 must learn to co-exist, resolve their unfinished business and move beyond the conflicts of the past. By the second episode, the friendships of the original seven roommates are tested after a fun, family game night turns hostile for Robbie and Mike.

The 33rd season of MTV's THE REAL WORLD premiered on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Noon ET/9am PT, as Facebook Watch released the first episode of the new season. In Season 33, seven strangers from wildly different backgrounds come together at a house in Atlanta, Georgia as every moment of their lives is taped as people stop being polite...and start getting real. The roommates for the new season include:
Meagan (age 23; Instagram: @meagan_melancon) Meagan is from Louisiana and credits God and her deep-rooted Catholic faith as her pillars of strength, but still struggles with issues of self-confidence and anxiety. She is still a virgin and believes that waiting until marriage is for the best. Her stance has made dating a challenge, but Meagan hopes her experience in Atlanta will allow her to face her fears, embrace herself, and learn more about other people from different walks of life.
Dondre (age 25; Instagram: @DearDondre): Dondre is a staunch, conservative Texan who is confident in expressing himself and his political views. As a pansexual person, Dondre is on a journey of coming out and revealing his sexual orientation to his friends and family. A proud Republican, Dondre believes in the American dream. He is a Trump supporter and an advocate for the second amendment, even after losing a brother to gun violence. Dondre is still discovering what it means to be a Black man in America.
Clint (age 28; Instagram: @eastwood100): Clint is from Michigan and has lived in a small-town bubble his entire life. With good looks and over 130K followers on Instagram, he has no problem getting attention wherever he goes. Growing up in a strict conservative household rarely allowed Clint to explore life beyond the family farm. He's expected to follow his father's footsteps and carry on the farm business with a family of his own, but before that, he hopes to explore a life he's never known on The Real World.
Justin (age 26; Instagram: @justinblu_): Justin is a bold and emerging leader in Atlanta's Black Community. He is pursuing a master's degree in African American Studies from Georgia State University, although his life purpose wasn't always clear. It wasn't until he was racially profiled by police that he decided to dedicate his life to uplifting the Black community. Justin also faces the challenge of maintaining a longdistance relationship with his long-term girlfriend.
Yasmin (age: 27; Instagram: @yassayassayassa): Yasmin is an openly pansexual feminist who believes her calling in life is to express herself. Growing up in Seattle with the Christian ideals of her mother, and Muslim values of her father, she has now pushed any conservative views aside. Yasmin models and supports body positivity organizations, but after her own brush with the law she works as an art teacher in a youth detention center hoping to help others.
Tovah (age: 26; Instagram: @TovahMarx): Tovah is an independent West Coast girl. After suffering severe trauma in her teen years, she keeps her guard up and uses humor to protect herself. Passionate about foster children, Tovah has worked as a caseworker for Child Protective Services and dreams of one day opening her own foster home. Tovah wants to make real, lasting connections and hopes to leave this experience with new friends, and possibly love.
Arely (age: 21; Instagram: @_arelyyy): Arely is from the Midwest, and in addition to being the youngest housemate, is also a single mother to a 4-year-old son. As a toddler, Arely came to America from Mexico with her parents. At 16, Arely became pregnant and began to realize the challenges of being a teen mom. She always imagined a life as a registered nurse, but found she was unable to take her nursing exam due to her status as a DREAMer. After years of hard work and sacrifice, Arely is ready for adventure and new opportunities.
