Plot Synopsis

Inspired by the life of Erin Brockovich, REBEL is a one-hour drama series that centers on Annie 'Rebel' Bello, a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. She's a funny, messy, brilliant and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.

"REBEL is not just my story, it is all of our stories. There is a hero that exists in all of us, and I am so excited for Krista and ABC to bring their visionary storytelling to this series," said series executive producer Erin Brockovich. "The name REBEL oozes self-empowerment, courage and rising above, even in the worst of circumstances. I cannot think of anyone better to play this role than the indomitable Katey Sagal, who is such a force, as well as the rest of this extraordinary cast."

In the series opener, Rebel stops at nothing to convince Cruz to join her fight against Stonemore Medical and simultaneously enlists Lana and Cassidy to protect a woman from her abusive boyfriend. While Rebel is out saving others, her husband, Grady, stands on the sidelines and picks up the pieces at home. Written by Krista Vernoff and directed by Tara Nicole Weyr.
Tonight (Thursday, April 15, 2021) at 10pm ET/PT, ABC premieres "Patient X," a new episode of REBEL. Blindsided and upset by Grady's sudden change of heart, Rebel proceeds to help Cruz build their case against Stonemore and enlists Lana's assistance to convince a former patient to aid in their case. Meanwhile, Cassidy shares surprising news with Cruz who is simultaneously dealing with trauma from his own past. Elsewhere, Nate tries to prove Rebel wrong and recruits a colleague to help with his heart valve study. Guest starring is Mo McRae as Amir, Mary McDonnell as Helen, Jalen Thomas Brooks as Sean, Adam Arkin as Mark Duncan, Abigail Spencer as Misha and Dan Bucatinsky as Professor Jason Erickson.
