Plot Synopsis

REEF WRANGLERS is a reality show that follows Walter Marine, a family-owned business in Orange Beach, Alabama, where owner David Walter and his crew sink objects in the Gulf of Mexico to create artificial reefs. Walter, along with his son Stewart Walter, stepson Justin Stoufflet, and employee Rodger Strick, make these distinct marine-life ecosystems while battling storms, strong winds, changing currents, and even sharks. For the past 27 years, Walter has been making artificial reefs in Alabama, Texas, and Florida by sinking cars, buses, tractors, helicopters, ships and cement-and-stone reefs that he developed. Plus, he recently finished a job at Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary, a snorkeling reef at Navarre Beach in Florida, which opened to divers on May 22, 2012. The Navarre reefs, typical of Walter's three-ton cement-and-stone reefs, are made of concrete, oyster shells and limestone, which he uses because limestone is native to the Gulf Coast and is ideally suited to support marine life. In June 2013 Walter plans to sink a 271-foot boat off the coast of Orange Beach, as the local city governments try to draw more tourists to the Alabama Gulf Coast. Weather Channel originally planned to debut REEF WRANGLERS on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, but delayed the premiere nearly 3.5 months.
