Plot Synopsis

Each year since 2013, Golf Channel has premiered four primetime specials that showcase the men and women who compete in long drive, beginning with grassroots local and regional qualifying, and culminating with the RE/MAX WORLD LONG DRIVE CHAMPIONSHIP, a live, two-hour, primetime finale from Las Vegas when eight finalists attempt to outdrive each other for a winner-take-all $250,000 prize. Season 2 premiered on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on Golf Channel, with the first of four primetime specials, ending three weeks later with the live, two-hour finale from Las Vegas on Tuesday, November 4. Additionally, NBC aired a 60-minute recap show of the entire 2014 RE/MAX WORLD LONG DRIVE CHAMPIONSHIP in December 2014. Golf Channel aired live coverage of the 40th WORLD LONG DRIVE CHAMPIONSHIP from WinStar World Casino and Resort from 9-11pm ET/6-8pm PT on Tuesday, October 20 and Wednesday, October 21, 2015. The 64-man match play bracket -- implemented this year for the first time -- plays out during Golf Channel's coverage featuring the round of 16 being narrowed down to eight competitors on Tuesday, October 20, and the remaining eight dueling for the first place prize and $250,000 purse on Wednesday, October 21. New to 2015, competitors have 2 minutes, 45 seconds to hit their drives in each round, and the player who is trailing in the match has an opportunity to hit one final ball past their opponent's to try and advance to the next round in the bracket. Golf Channel's Ryan Burr provides play-by-play; Michael Breed, host of THE GOLF FIX, serves as analyst; and Angela Hamann handles interviews. Art Sellinger -- long-drive pioneer, two-time national long-drive champion and founder of the Long Drivers of America -- also is on hand to provide an analyst perspective and offer additional background on the competitors.

Golf Channel broadcast the 41st WORLD LONG DRIVE CHAMPIONSHIP live from WinStar World Casino and Resort on Tuesday, October 11 (Round of 16) and Wednesday, October 12, 2016 (Finals) from 8-10pm ET/5-7pm PT. The field competes for a $260,000 purse, with $125,000 awarded to the eventual champion. Additionally, the winner receives a customized Championship belt, built by Orange County Choppers. The Round of 16 matchups included:
