Plot Synopsis

RENOVATION IMPOSSIBLE is a one-hour reality series that follows Russell J. Holmes and Paige Poupart, as they help homeowners get their stalled reno plans on track with ingenious, dollar-stretching solutions, despite the homeowners' unrealistic expectations and opposing design visions. "Paige and I share a 'school of hard knocks' approach to renovations and budgets for our clients," said Russell. "We open their eyes to what they can really do with their money and find creative ways to pull off the improvements that crashed their momentum." On Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Noon ET/PT, HGTV premiered a sneak-peek episode of the series. In this special preview episode, "That '70s House," Russell turns a couple's outdated '70s house into a stylish home. Facing a tight budget and conflicting tastes, he gets some help from Paige to find creative design compromises and deliver on their dream home.

RENOVATION IMPOSSIBLE made its official series debut on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on HGTV. The series opener spotlights clients Jessica and Joseph, whose hodge-podge, mid-century house needs a major makeover to make it liveable for the family of four. Unsure of how to proceed and plagued by conflicting design opinions, Jessica and Joseph will turn to Russell and his team to take over the seemingly impossible project. After learning what design elements are important to each person, Russell will present a renovation plan that blends it all beautifully -- and keeps it on budget. The cost savings gained with the couples' sweat equity and a willingness to keep a few of the home's original features, as well as clever repurposing and upcycling of items they already own, allows more money for a stunning modern kitchen, a fresh family room and more.
