Plot Synopsis

RENOVATION REALITIES: BEN & GINGER is a half-hour reality series that follows GOOD MORNING AMERICA's Ginger Zee and her husband, EXTRA reporter Ben Aaron, as they tackle their first home renovation, transforming a suburban fixer upper into their dream home. With help from their contractors, they gut the house to the studs, remove walls and expand the floor plan -- and it all begins in the first episode. With Ben lacking even the most basic skills, Ginger has to muster the patience to get them through the kitchen renovation. Their friends and family also lend a hand -- including GOOD MORNING AMERICA's Robin Roberts, Amy Robach and Lara Spencer -- who join Ginger's painting party in the series' second episode. Along the way, Ben and Ginger face the unexpected set-backs and surprise expenses of the renovation, such as asbestos removal and unusable original flooring, with a can-do attitude and plenty of humor. Throughout the four-episode series, Ben and Ginger work side-by-side to transform the old 1,800-square foot house into a three-bedroom, three-bathroom modern family home. They also install features they couldn't get in their small apartment, such as a walk-in closet, a laundry room and mud room. Fun extras include a beautiful outdoor patio with a fireplace and pergola. "We bought an old house and it needs a lot of work," said Ginger. "I grew up helping my parents with drywall, tiling and painting, so I think we can do a lot of this ourselves to save some money and make the place exactly what we want."

On Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 8pm ET/PT, DIY Network premiered the season finale of RENOVATION REALITIES: BEN & GINGER. In the season ender, "Front and Backyard," Ben and Ginger tackle their outdoor space, the biggest selling point of their new home. All they need to do is renovate two decks, install over an acre of sod, build an outdoor fireplace and install a stone wall. With over an acre of playing space for their son Adrian, Ben and Ginger will forget they ever lived in the city.
